Frequently Asked Questions

What is Nuru Foundation?

Nuru Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing accessible and affordable education to young people in Kenya. We offer courses in technology and other essential skills, delivered through a structured virtual classroom, to empower the next generation of learners and innovators.

Who can join the Nuru Foundation's courses?

Our courses are open to everyone, but we primarily focus on young people who are eager to learn and grow. We also support primary and high school students who need tutoring in specific school subjects, as well as busy professionals looking for self-paced learning. We believe education should be accessible to all, regardless of background or financial situation.

What courses do you offer?

We offer a range of courses including web development, data science, cybersecurity, computer packages, and more. You can find the full list on our courses page.

Are classes live or self-paced?

Most courses run through our structured cohort system, with live virtual classroom sessions that are also recorded so you can revisit them. We also offer a self-paced calendar track, ideal for busy professionals and school students who need more flexible timing. See our program calendar for current cohort dates.

How often do new cohorts start?

We run two cohort intakes per year. Visit our program calendar to see the current cohort and upcoming intake dates.

Do I need my own laptop to join a course?

Yes. You'll need access to a computer (laptop or desktop) and a stable internet connection to take part in our virtual classroom sessions and access course materials.

How much do the courses cost?

We strive to keep our courses as affordable as possible, and offer scholarships where available. Course fees may be paid termly or via monthly installments. Visit our courses page for current pricing on each course.

What payment methods do you accept?

We currently accept M-Pesa, with other payment methods being added over time. Fees may be paid termly or via monthly installments, and you can track your invoices and due dates from your student dashboard.

Do you offer certificates on completion?

Yes. When you complete a course along with its lessons and assignments, your Nuru Foundation Certificate of Completion is issued and appears in your student dashboard.

How do I apply for a course?

Visit the course page for the course you're interested in and click "Apply Now." You'll fill out a short application form, and our team will get back to you as soon as possible.

Where are you located?

We're based in Nairobi, Kenya. Most of our courses are delivered online, so you can learn from anywhere with an internet connection.

Is my personal and payment information secure?

Yes. Passwords are securely encrypted, and we don't store your M-Pesa PIN or card details — payments are processed directly by the payment provider. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
